Kisii County government secretary Johnston Ndege has warned county officials against soliciting money from residents with the promise that they will give them jobs.

Ndege said the county's hiring process is transparent and warned that officials who will be found taking part in corruption  will be sacked.

Addressing journalists in Kisii town on Thursday, the county secretary noted that they have received reports that some county staffs were asking job seekers to give them money in exchange of being hired by the county government.

“We have heard that there are some county officials who are deceiving people that they will employ them in the county government after giving them some money,” noted Ndege.

He added, “We as the county government don’t demand for money to hire people. We are always transparent as we advertise for any available vacancies. We have heard that some officials and workers who solicit for the money tell the unsuspecting job seekers that the money they collect from them goes to the county employment board. Those are pure lies.”

Residents on their part have been challenged to report county staff soliciting for money from them in exchange for jobs so that stern action is taken against them.
