Residents of Jogoo Estate in Kisii County woke up to a bizarre incident after they found the body of a middle-aged woman in her compound.
The woman who was a teacher at a local academy is suspected to have been murdered by her husband after a domestic quarrel.
According to the neighbours, the duo usually engaged in domestic feuds that always ended up in serious fights.
“The two normally go on drinking sprees and when they are drunk they, normally fight but on Tuesday it seems that the fight was intense since the children were not at home,” said a brother to the alleged assailant
He said he found his sister-in-law's body lying at her compound when he went out to get food for his cattle.
He said he was shocked to discover that she was dead after shaking her severally in an attempt to wake her up.
He immediately informed some of his neighbours and called the police from Kisii Central Police Station.
Confirming the incident, Kisii head of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) unit Samuel Kiprop said the woman suffered injuries on her head, hands and legs an indication that she was hit by a blunt object.
He added that the injuries on the deceased shows that the two struggled for a long time before she died.
The body was moved to Ram Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
He said they have launched a hunt for the suspect who is still at large.
