Kikuyu Deputy County Commissioner Elias Kithaura has urged civil servants to cease from engaging in political activities in an effort to effectively deliver their services.
Speaking in his office on Monday, Kithaura said that the practise was diverting the attention of the government employees from service delivery and asked them to stick to their roles and leave politics to politicians.
The deputy county boss reiterated that public servants from both county and national government departments should not engage in any politics, saying this will inhibit their work output due to bias and patronage.
He said that the workers received their pay from public coffers and members of the public from all political parties had a right to be served regardless of party affiliations.
“Politicians should stop using public servants in furthering their interests and should instead accord them independence to serve the public,” said Kithaura.
He at the same time asked members of the public to report errant public servants and police officers to respective authorities to help streamline public service delivery.
