Tea directors in Gucha, Kisii County have been urged to represent well tea farmers by forwarding their grievances to tea factory managements so that farmers can be paid well.

Led by their chairman Mr Jimmy Momanyi, the tea farmers accused the directors of failing to advocate for their rights as mandated.

“Our directors should know that they represent us and should take our grievers to the relevant authorities so that we can be well paid,” said Momanyi

He added, “No one cares about us, our management should make sure that we are remunerated well considering the work that we do. We also urge the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) to make sure that they collect tea leaves from tea buying centres in time so that farmers can get enough time to engage in other businesses."

Oigara Nyamingo, Gucha Alliance Vice Chairman said some farmers take a lot of time to deliver tea at the buying centres.
