Two minors who admitted to assaulting a man over a cigarette before a Nakuru court have been sentenced to two years at Shikutsa institution for young criminal offenders.
The boys, who said they are 16 and 17 years old, admitted that they assaulted James Kuria on May 13 this year at Kihingo village in Njoro sub-county.
They admitted to assaulting Kuria and said that they were retaliating after he harassed them, they also begged for forgiveness from the elder.
According to the prosecution, the boys assaulted Kuria after having a short argument over a cigarette which they were smoking. The boys, who had just been circumcised, were smoking when Kuria questioned them about it. They retaliated by beating him causing him bodily harm.
The court had ordered the probation officers to give a report on the boys, the report read by the court revealed that the two boys had grudge with the Kuria.
Chief Magistrate Joel Ngeno ordered the two boys to serve their sentence at Shikutsa institution.
