Police are searching for a middle-aged woman who is alleged to have stolen her husband’s motorcycle worth Sh80,000 on Sunday within Ondire area Kikuyu Sub-County after she read a suspicious text message from his phone.
According to Kikuyu OCPD Mutune Maweu the suspect is said to have bought the husband alcohol and after he was drunk, she stole the motorcycle alongside other household property worth Sh10,000 and fled in the midst of the night as he slept.
Speaking to journalists in his office on Monday, Maweu said cases of spouses who had disagreed with their spouses taking laws in their hands were rampant in the area.
He said such cases are usually as a result of infidelity among married couples, citing they are not being good role models to their children.
"Wives should solve their domestic problems amicably and avoid engaging in criminal activities like taking off with their spouse’s working tools as a way of punishing them," said Maweu.
He warned those who take the law into their hands to stop, and instead report such incidences to the police as they are always at their service.
Maweu called on members of the public who might know the suspect's whereabouts to report to the police station so that the law could take its course.
