Five women from Nyoronge women group are on the verge of filing a court suit over an alleged mischief within the group that saw them losing benefits from a property that they are said to have acquired as a group.
Speaking to this writer on Sunday, the faction’s leader Rael Ratemo accused her counterparts for shortchanging them by expunging their names from the official book of legitimate owners of the property over alleged misconduct.
They vowed to challenge the leadership of the group in court for acting in ‘excesses’ and beyond their jurisdiction since no voting was done to determine their fate.
“We acquired the new building as a group since we are duly registered as members. We are entitled to all privileges as enshrined in our group's constitution and therefore the rent collected from the premises should be shared equally,” said Ratemo.
“No one has the mandate to kick us out of the group without garnering at least 11 votes of the 20 members and therefore, group leaders acted in excesses and that will be dealt with in court,” added Ratemo.
However, the group's Chairlady Lydia Momanyi defended their move by terming disgruntled members as ‘noncompliant and arrogant’ since they have repeatedly defaulted paying their monthly remittances.
“It is not always that members vote to discipline non-compliant members. The committee has powers and they remain suspended till we decide otherwise. We are even ready to face them in a Court of Law,” said Momanyi.
