A 23-year-old man suspected to have stolen a goat was on Monday arraigned before a Maseno court to answer to charges of stealing from his employer.
Pius Sakali denied the charges before Resident Magistrate Philip Oilo for the offence he allegedly committed on August 15.
According to the prosecution, the accused stole the goat belonging to his employer in Maseno. Sakali is alleged to have been given a day off by his employer Grace Opondo, on the material day when the animal went missing.
Opondo, upon learning that her goat was missing, immediately reported the matter to the police who say they later found it at his home in Chulaimbo.
The goat was allegedly recovered from Sakali’s house on Sunday where he was arrested and taken to the Maseno police station.
Sakali said that he had taken the goat to his home for grazing and he was planning to return it to the owner on Monday when he was to resume work.
He was released on cash bail of Sh5,000 with surety of a similar amount pending the hearing of the case on the September 24.
