Nyamira County Senator Kennedy Mong’are Okong’o has called for the resignation of the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) Chief Executive Officer over exam leakage.

Senator Okong’o, who is also a member of the senate’s education committee, said he was disappointed to know that some examination papers were already out before the day set for the examination to be taken had reached.

Okong’o, however, said that the examinations have to go on as planned and also called on the candidates in Nyamira County not to panic because the examination is already leaked.

He called on the education cabinet secretary professor Jacob Kaimenyi to send home National Examination Council’s CEO Dr Joseph Kivilu noting that Kenyans have for long been complaining of exam leaking to the public. He noted the examination council kept on denying this but it has finally admitted it is happening.

He also said that Kenya needs people who are responsible and devoted to their work and not people who keep changing their statements.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly’s Committee on Education Chairperson Sabina Chege has told off those who want the examination cancelled noting that the move will affect the candidates.
