Athi River deputy county commissioner, Kodeck Makori, has cautioned bar operators in the region against flouting the Mututho Law.
Makori said that the culprits should not think that the government had surrendered the war against illegal liquor that includes illicit local brew and second generation alcohol.
"I am aware that illegal liquor is slowly returning to our markets within Athi River Sub-County," said Makori.
Addressing journalists in his office in Athi River Town on Friday. Makori said security agents under his command and leadership would do everything possible to ensure the business is completely eradicated from the region.
He said all those who trade in the liquor business within the region should get well acquainted with all laws that regulate the industry so as not to be caught unaware.
"I urge all those who trade in the liquor business whether in pubs, bars, clubs or wherever, to get copies of legislations that regulate the industry and read and understand them for ignorance has got no defence in a court of law," said Makori.
Makori said some of the traders were opening their businesses before the stipulated time with others operating twenty four hours which is illegal.
He said leaders of the Athi River Sub-County security team would meet soon to plan and strategise on a serious crack down on illicit liquor and traders who have failed to abide by stipulated laws regulating the industry.
