A minor pleaded guilty to stealing 10 kilos of maize before a Nakuru court on Monday after he was caught by her sister.
The 16 year old was accused of stealing 10 kilograms of maize belonging to his sister Ruth Wairimu on October 10 at Munenda Village in Njoro.
Appearing before Senior Principle Magistrate Liz Gicheha, he pleaded guilty and said that it was because his sister had denied her food that day.
Represented by Lawyer David Mongeri who mitigated on his behalf, he said that the boy was already remorseful for his actions.
Mongeri also asked the court to consider the situation of the minor and let the probation officer do a report before delivering the sentence.
The court ordered that the minor be remanded at the Juvenile children’s home and for a probation report to be availed by the children's officers.
The second hearing of the case will on October 14.
