A case where five inmates at the Naivasha Maximum Prison are accused of killing their colleague has been moved to a Naivasha court. 

Dismas Ouma, Daniel Njoroge, Denis Mutabari, Fredrick Macharia and Francis Mwangi allegedly killed Joseph Ong’are at the Naivasha Maximum Prison between July 3 and 4 2011.

According to the police, the deceased was found covered with a blanket in his bed with severe injuries and his hand cut.

The Director of Public Prosecutions had directed that the five inmates be charged with murder.

They pleaded not guilty when they appeared before Justice Hanah Omondi on  25 October, 2011, and were remanded at the Naivasha Maximum Prison.

Justice Maureen Odero on Tuesday ordered that the case be heard before a Naivasha court since the convicts are serving sentences at the Naivasha Maximum Prison.

The case will mentioned on October 5 before a Naivasha law courts.

They had alleged harassment threats and harassment in the prison when they appeared before Justice Maureen Odera in July. 

Fredrick Macharia’s lawyer, Steve Kabita, told that the court that his client’s life was in danger and was seeking to be moved to another prison.
