Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno said several operations in his government have been paralysed claiming they are yet to receive any single allocation.

Speaking during the Mashujaa Day celebrations in Eldoret, Chemno said that there was no money at their disposal to run the government.

"The delayed allocation of money to county governments is unwarranted since we are really suffering and we have faced stagnation in all essential services such as paying of salaries to our workers, and also paying suppliers and contractors," he said.

"I urge the national government to act with speed and disburse that amount since county governments will be declared bankrupt. The situation is very bad such that we cannot even fuel our vehicles," he added.

The deputy governor reiterated that most projects in the county have been adversely affected especially road construction amid calls for preparedness ahead of the anticipated El Nino rains.

"I urge the national government to act with speed if they really want to support devolution," he added.
