Residents in Mwamonari Location, in Kisii County have been challenged to embrace the Nyumba Kumi initiative to fight crime in the area.
Chief Titus Mochiemo noted that if residents failed to embrace the initiative, it would be difficult to fight crime which he said had become rampant in the area.
Addressing residents on Monday at a baraza in Getunu, Mochiemo challenged residents to embrace the initiative to reduce crime and promote development.
He asked residents to report to his office any suspicious person in the area.
Meanwhile, the chief has asked youths in his location to who have attained 18 years and above to apply for national identification cards (IDs).
He said the crucial document will help them get jobs and even apply for loans from the Youth Enterprise and Uwezo funds to start businesses that will empower them economically.
“Youths cannot be given loans from the Uwezo Fund if they don’t have IDs. The ID card is used to identify that the youth is a Kenyan from a particular place, aged 18 years and above who can manage a business to promote the country’s economy,” added Mochiemo.
