A cleric in Eldoret town has urged the Uasin Gishu county government to rehabilitate streets children roaming in towns and estates.

Pastor Wilson Kururi of the Jesus Love Ministry says that the number of street children within Eldoret town is worrying.

Speaking at his church based in Langas estate during a mentorship programme for youths on Monday, Kururi said that street children are being subjected to unnecessary hardships on streets.

He notes that some of the children are teenagers who have dropped out of school and others abandoned by their relatives.

The pastor wants the county government to rehabilitate the children and give them the required support.

“The county government must devise ways to help street children get education, healthcare and their general security,” he said.

The pastor said that some street kids are falling prey to criminals while others being raped and sodomised while on the streets.

Kururi also urged MCAs in the county to formulate laws that will protect street children.

He says that the constitution agitates for the rights of every child and that county government must also protect the same rights.
