Uasin Gishu county residents have been urged to take their animals for vaccination against the Rift Valley Fever amid the El Nino rains which are expected to start any time.
Speaking in her office on Thursday, Agriculture Chief Officer Victoria Tarus said the vaccination exercise will start on Monday.
He urged residents to take their livestock to be vaccinated against the deadly disease.
“We have set aside Sh3.6 million to buy drugs to be used to vaccinate animals against the Rift Valley Fever which is mostly spread by mosquitoes,” she said.
She said the mostly targeted areas are Moiben, Keses and Soy which are anticipated to have high prevalence of the disease.
