A matatu driver was arraigned in Kisii law courts on Thursday and charged with killing a three and half year-old child through careless driving.
The driver, Dennis Moseti was accused that on May 16, while driving on the Kisii–Kisumu Highway at Nyamatar area, hit and seriously injured Obai Eric who later died as he was undergoing treatment at Kisii Level 5 Hospital.
According to the prosecutor, Moseti was speeding at the time of the accident and proceeded with his journey leaving the injured child at the mercy of well-wishers who rushed him to hospital.
The accused, however, denied the charges before Kisii Resident Magistrate Yvone Masika and was released on a Sh80,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount.
The case will be heard on September 9.
