There was drama at a plot in Bahati Estate, Nakuru town on Wednesday night after angry tenants beat up a colleague for causing commotion after coming home late and drunk.
Tenants in the plot complained that the man, only identified as Mwaura, had proved stubborn ever since moving into the rental houses three weeks ago.
Mwaura, they say, was notorious for coming late, drunk and making noise as he hulled insults at anyone who dared cool him down. This usually happened late at night for the earliest he had ever come home was few minutes past midnight.
“All of us here are family people and need time to relax after daylong work,” Simon Mwaniki, a tenant lamented.
“My daughter has just been discharged from hospital and has been advised to have enough sleep and rest but this man can’t just give her peace,” Rebecca Ouna, another tenant, complained.
On the Wednesday, Mwaura came late as usual unaware that his days we numbered. He roughly opened the gate banging it and started singing and hulling insults.
“Pleas for him to get into his house fell on deaf ears but when it became unbearable, we (tenants) chose to teach him a lesson. In a place like this, respect is very important,” Dennis Mbogo, who also is the caretaker of the plot, said.
