Eight people have been confirmed dead following a road accident at Blue Post, Thika.

Confirming the Friday incident, Traffic base commander Apelles chacha said eight people have been confirmed dead but updates will be issued later on the exact number of deaths.

The commander said 22 people are in critical condition and about 24 others are nursing minor injuries in different hospitals in Thika.

The accident is said to have occurred when the driver of a Saloon car, who was heading to Kandara junction, tried to overtake a bus but ended up hitting it from behind causing the vehicle to veer off the road.
