Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua on Tuesday temporarily dismissed two hospital heads for alleged poor service delivery in their respective areas of administration.
Lawrence Mulunje, the general supervisor at Kangundo Level Four Hospital, was ordered by the governor to take a one month leave to pave way for investigations following the death of four infants.
Alice Nyamai, the hospital administrator at Kathiani Hospital was also dismissed following allegations of poor hygiene at the hospital.
Speaking during a press conference in his office, Governor Mutua said that there has been a lot of complains concerning service delivery in public hospitals, hence the need to take action to ensure provision of quality health services in Machakos County.
"I have formed a committee of eight members to conduct a ten-day investigation to determine the cause of death of the babies. Permanent dismissal will be ordered to any of the administrators who will be found incompetent," said Mutua.
The governor said he will not tolerate any form of corruption in public hospitals and will keep administrators on their toes to ensure quality service delivery in the hospitals.
