Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) Kisii branch Secretary Ben Nyaundi has lauded governor James Ongwae for standing firm with teachers in the fight for their salary increase by 50-60 per cent.
Mr Nyaundi hailed the governor's leadership as one that should be embraced by other leader in the country.
Speaking on Tuesday at Gusii Stadium during the celebration of Mashujaa Day, Mr Nyaundi lauded governor Ongwae for his support and challenged him to mobilise other 46 governors in the country in fighting for teachers' pay hike.
The Kuppet boss promised to perform assured parents that KCPE and KCSE candidates will excel in their exams and urged the national government to award them the salary increase as ordered by the Industrial Court.
“As teachers, we have to do our part to ensure students pass in their exams. We ask our government to increase teachers' salaries,” he said.
