Residents of Kiambu County have been cautioned against seeking treatment in hospitals run by unqualified medical doctors.
The county’s public health officer John Munyui said cases of patients with complications arising from misdiagnosis were on the increase in the region.
Munyui advised patients to seek treatment from qualified physicians where they are assured of getting quality services.
According to him, most of the quacks operate illegal hospitals where they exploit their patients who think they will get faster services as compared to government hospitals where the queues are long.
Munyui who was speaking on Thursday at the Kiambu District Hospital, observed that hospitals run by unqualified medics are unlicensed, and advised residents to be cautious when seeking medical care in these facilities.
He said misdiagnosis could result in fatalities or even death of the victims. He added that even some of the drugs sold to patients in the said hospital are not genuine.
