October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Kisii County government through the Ministry of Health has put in place measures to sensitise members of the public about cancer.

Speaking in his office at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, County Director of Health Dr Geoffrey Ontomu said people should seek regular screening services and treat cancer at early stages to avoid further complications.

“My advice is that let our people come for regular tests so that they can know their status for necessary steps to be taken early enough,” advised Dr Ontomu.

He also said the county government is organising for an awareness walk from Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital to Kisii University to campaign against the disease.

“We are going to have a walk from the hospital to the University to inform people about cancer. Through this walk we are likely to reach many people,” added Dr Ontomu.
