Kisii University's Christian Union students have launched a forum to enable young people to discuss the issues affecting them.

The CU chairman Peter Mogaka said that the forum will give an opportunity to the young people to interact and speak out on the things that affect them which they have previously felt ashamed to talk about freely.

“We want to give young people a platform to share with their friends on what really affects them,” he said.

The forum was started 2 months ago with only 5 members, but has since grown in number with at least 300 members currently.

Mogaka said that even though the group is targeting the youth in general, their main target audience are the ‘born again’ youth. This is because they face a lot of challenges since a lot of issues are considered a taboo to discuss when it comes to christianity.

He added that saved young people find it hard to speak out about issues that challenge them in life unless they are given a platform where they can feel comfortable to speak out.

“Being saved doesn't make one an angel, on the contrary, it makes one more vulnerable to temptations that affects everybody in life. Considering the fact that people believe that christianity doesn't necessarily give them a chance to speak out about certain things, i'm afraid that our ‘saved’ young people are therefore most times left defenseless.”

Mogaka said that they aim at providing solutions from the bible to riddle these issues.
