Kisumu Residents Voice Association has decried the runaway insecurity in Kisumu city.

Audi Ogada, the association’s spokesperson said many residents have fallen prey to criminals in the city.

He accused the police of doing little to contain the situation.

He said the national government has availed motor vehicles and deployed more police in the region, and now called upon the relevant authorities to do their job.

“When we had the same problem in the past. We were told that there were inadequate officers and lack of enough patrol vehicles. Now that all these have been addressed, why has insecurity not been contained,” he said.

He said several pleas by the locals to have the issue addressed have fallen on deaf ears they continue to bear the brunt of insecurity.

Addressing a press conference in Kisumu on Wednesday at the Pubic Service Club, Ogada said it was high time for leaders to come together and fight the menace.

Businesses will incur great losses if insecurity continues unabated, said the spokesperson.

Ogada said residents would hold protests to demand for a quick fix of security.

“The only option left is to demonstrate to demand for police protection,” he said.
