Eldoret Catholic Bishop Cornelius Korir has lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta for his firm stand and respond on the same sex marriage being propagated by the US government.

Korir says that the response by Kenyatta that same sex marriage was a not priority for Kenya was well thought.

Korir said that Kenya has its cultural view and that it should not be influenced or forced to adopt certain cultures.

“Kenyatta’s response to the issue of same sex marriages was good and well thought,” he said.

The catholic Bishop said that the US government has a right to speak about same sex marriages but not to force other countries and people to its ideologies.

Korir said that Kenya has its values that need to be protected and respected adding that  the US government has no right to impose its values on Kenyans.

In a joint press briefing with US President Barack Obama on Saturday, Kenyatta said that the issue of same sex marriages was not a priority for Kenya.

Kenyatta who was responding to Obama’s view that gays and lesbians should be treated equally said that Kenya was focusing on pertinent issues.

Kenyatta deferred with the Obama on the issue with both leaders taking a different stand.

Korir says that the church will continue to fight immorality. He asked leaders not to accept the same sex marriage and rather work on promoting good and acceptable moral behavior among Kenyans.
