Lazy medical officers in Yatta and Matuu Level Four Hospitals will be sacked, Machakos County Public Health Chief Officer Dr Collins Sila has said.
He said the government will not condone laxity in public hospitals adding that health facilities offers medical services which if not expedited could lead to loss of lives.
Dr Sila made the remarks on Wednesday at the Matuu Level Four Hospital during the official opening of a Health Management Information System (HMIS) office.
He cautioned officers especially those in financial management departments against misappropriating public funds saying that those caught will be prosecuted.
Dr Sila said the government was assessing the viability of maintenance section in the health department saying that if found to be less important it will be dealt away with.
He thanked the Philips Innovative Company, which had worked together with the county government of Machakos in funding the construction and completion of the office block that has seen Sh2.7 million being used in construction, furniture and equipment.
He said the system would help the medical team in the hospital in prioritisation of planned activities and submission of accurate technical and financial reports in time.
He urged the staff to work together as a team and practice bench marking in other medical centers to enhance health care provision in the sub-county.
