Machakos Township Chief Fidelis Tuli has urged residents to embrace peace and unity.

Speaking at a public Baraza in Machakos Town on Thursday, Tuli said the area will register development if residents embrace peace.

He said as residents, they are supposed and required to embrace unity as a show of their patriotism.

Tuli said for peace and security to be realised, everyone including leaders must be involved.

The Machakos Township chief said that peace is elusive to social, political and economic growth.

“Every citizen and any other person living in this area must endeavour to promote peace and harmony among ourselves and our neighbours,” he said.

The chief said the locality consists of many tribes hence the need for peace and unity.

He said his office has organised public forums where locals will be sensitised on peace.

Tuli challenged youths to take the initiative of spearheading unity in the area.

On the same note, Tuli asked the locals to adopt the Nyumba Kumi security imitative for the sake of streamlining security in the area.

He said the Nyumba Kumi concept has worked in several places and that it can also work in Machakos.

The administrator said that through Nyumba Kumi, residents will be able to know their neighbours well.

Tuli said that his office will be conducting Barazas to sensitise and update locals on the initiatives being taken to boost security in the area.
