A 32 year old man from Yatta township has been arrested for allegedly obtaining Sh90,000 through false pretence.
Mr Jason Mutio, who is being held at Yatta Police Station, was on Wednesday alleged to have duped Mr Festus Mbura in September 28 by convincing him to have been in possession of beaqua seeds.
The victim is said to have accepted to purchase the seeds which he had not seen and gave out Sh90,000 to Mr Mutio who never delivered the seeds.
According to sub county police boss Mr Edward Kipsang, the culprit was arrested after the victim reported the matter 24 hours after the delivery failed.
He said that they found him in his house in Yatta township area and will charge him with obtaining money through pretence.
Mr Kipsang has however urged the public to be cautious in any dealings which they are not sure of, stating that they should consult locals before giving out their money.
“I urge the public to always consult the locals before engaging in any deal no matter how juicy it might sound,” the officer said.
