A man accused of defrauding Nakuru businessmen of about Sh50 million has been given a Sh5 million cash bail by a Nakuru court for nine counts of falsely obtaining goods.

Nicholas Ng'ang'a who was arrested on Friday August 4, and held at the Nakuru Central Police Station, was appearing in court for a the second time after pleading innocent to six charges of fraud on Monday September 7.

Ng'ang'a he was accused of issuing three fake cheques for Sh800,000, Sh900,000 and Sh300,000 to Wamo Enterprises on May 28 this year to which he pleaded innocent before Chief Magistrate Joel Ng'eno.

Six counts

In the Monday hearing Ng'ang'a faced six counts of defrauding people of an assortment of goods while he was working as the director of company called Educative Supplement International and was remanded for the prosecution to complete the investigations.

Ng'ang'a allegedly obtained assorted foodstuff valued at Sh2,419,250 from Seastar Supllies and Engineering Limited on diverse dates between March 23 and June 4 at Milimani Estate within Nakuru County.

He also allegedly obtained assorted pipes worth Sh5,161,715 from Peterson Munene claiming to be in a position to pay on diverse dates between February 20 and 26.

On another count, Ng'ang'a was accused of obtained assorted foodstuffs valued at Sh12,006,360 from Halima Abdulahim on diverse dates between January 27 and February 13 by fraud.

Ng'ang'a alongside others before the court on the same day was also charged for fraudulently obtaining cypress timber valued at Sh3,400,000 from Mikwa Limited on diverse dates between January 31 and March 9.

On the fifth count, he is accused of obtained foodstuff that include maize, rice and beans valued at Sh8,442,500 from H&K Enterprises Limited on diverse dates between February 6 and 20th.

He faced a sixth count of obtaining foodstuff valued at Sh22,080,900 from Kuweka Trading Limited on diverse dates between March 11 and May 11.

Consolidation

State Prosecutor Chief Inspector, Sirorei Rop said that prosecution intended to consolidate the matters before other courts.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Joel Ng'eno, Nganga pleaded not guilty and was given a surety bond of Sh29 million on all charges.

The cases will be mentioned for consolidation on September 15.
