A man was arraigned before Nakuru court on Monday for setting his mother’s hut on fire.
Francis Kipkorir allegedly set Telai Chemutai’s house valued at Sh2,000 on fire on August 2 at Solai in Njoro sub-county.
According to the prosecution, Kipkorir freed the cows that were in the house before setting it on fire, his mother who was absent at the time of the incident said that she was at another house.
The court also heard that the members of the public tried in vain to put out the fire.
Appearing before Principle Magistrate Bernard Ndenda, Kipkorir pleaded not guilty and said that his mother framed him up in order to chase him out of his house.
“My mother does not want me to live at her home, she framed me up so that I cannot be around,” she said.
The court gave him a surety bond of Sh100,000 and an alternative cash bail of Sh50,000
The case will be heard on October 5.
