A man was on Friday arraigned before a Nakuru court over theft of metallic railway parts belonging to the Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC).
Wilson Kiptoo Chirchir, with others not before the court, was accused of stealing 52 railway metals parts and other 123 metals valued at Sh2,728,000 on September 14, at Solai, Nakuru County.
Kiptoo, on an alternative charge of the first charge, was accused of illegally transporting KRC property using a Mitsubishi lorry on the same day around 5am.
On second account, he was accused of destroying the corporation's property along with others not arrested on September 14 at Solai.
Kiptoo's lawyer urged the court to order the release of the car that has now been confiscated by the police. He said that the car can be released to the owner by the investigating officer saying he has already taken the pictures.
Appearing before Senior Principle Magistrate Liz Gicheha, Kiptoo pleaded not guilty and was given a surety bond of Sh700,000 and an alternative cash bail of Sh300,000.
The case will be mentioned on October 15 and heard on November 9, 2015.
