Nakuru governor Kinuthia Mbugua has pledged to work with the national government to improve access to healthcare in Nakuru.

Speaking at Marioshoni Ward in Nakuru on Friday, Mbugua said that there is no harm in working with the national government.

He said that though health services have been devolved, the input of the national government is needed.

Mbugua said that health care is a crucial sector that needs adequate funding and resources.

“I am determined to improve healthcare and make sure that Nakuru people have access to medicine and specialised services,” he said.

He said the county government is working with various stakeholders to improve health.

“We are working with other stakeholders to get specialised equipment that will help in detecting chronic diseases which are high among our people,” he said.

He urged residents to seek health services from county facilities saying that there is enough medicine and equipment to tackle their ailments.

Mbugua said that some residents are seeking health services in private facilities yet the county government has improved service delivery.

He said that enough medicine has been distributed to all health centres in the county.

“Nakuru people should feel free to get health services from our facilities which have everything,” he said.

He said that the county government is focusing on having all heath centres equipped with specialised facilities to improve on service delivery.
