A youth group from Sameta Ward, Kisii County has a reason to smile, after area MCA donated five motorbikes that will be used to sustain them economically.

Speaking during the delivery of the bikes, Sameta MCA Hon. Evans Siko said he had been impressed with Kiogango Youth Group, following its dedication to educate youths in the area on the importance of education, besides showing willingness to invent ideas to his administration.

He urged youths to rise up to the occasion and find alternative means of survival other than waiting for white collar jobs or engaging themselves in illegal activities.

“I am very happy with this group given their dedication to support education among the youths here. They have used their limited resources to contribute towards payment of fee to their colleagues. I decided to reward them with the motorbikes so that they can generate more revenue,” he said.

Siko accused youths for their continued criticism to various elected leaders, and asked them to seek loans from local banks and youth enterprise funds and subsequently venture into businesses.

“Many of our youths have been relying on white collar jobs, which are limited. We need them to be sensitized so that they can reach loans that can help them join businesses and earn a living. I do not want to hear people engaging in unscrupulous activates,” he added.

He promised more support to youths, women and persons with disabilities in the financial year 2015/16, but insisted on the need for residents to support incumbent leaders.
