Thika MP Alice Ng’ang’a has hailed Kiambu County Assembly Members for tabling and passing the Ward Development Fund (WDF) motion.
The WDF according to the MP will greatly impact positively and foster development in the county, bearing in mind the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) is regarded as unconstitutional in the country.
This comes after Kahawa Sukari MCA Peter Geche tabled the motion in the county assembly that was seconded by Ngewa MCA Karungo wa Thang’wa last week to enable equity in development in the county under the devolved government.
The Thika law maker said that under the devolution government, some counties have experienced disparities in development and thus called on the County Finance Executives to establish WDF with immediate effect to help bring Kiambu forward.
The TNA legislator lauded Geche and Karungo for ensuring the county projects are well catered for and called on other counties to follow suit to ensure Kenya is economically stable.
Ng’ang’a who was speaking on Sunday in Thika Town called on the leaders not to be influenced by politicians who seek political mileage but work towards fulfilling their manifesto to the people of Kiambu County.
“Plans are underway in making Thika a 24 hours economy town by providing adequate security to allow investors to come and create employment in the region,” said Ng’ang’a.
She said cases of unemployment have resulted to abuse of drugs in the county and criminal activity, thus called upon county government to come out with ways to curb and tame the heinous act to save future generation.
