Officials from the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) have given the Molo Medical Training College the green light to operate.
Speaking on Wednesday at the health facility in Molo after touring the premises, KMTC chairman Philip Kaloki gave the project a clean bill of health after inspecting available facilities.
“We have been certified by the health facilities and we have approved the medical institution to start operating. The health institution has a serene environment, modern facilities and adequate land on the periphery of Molo hospital,’’ said Kaloki.
The institution is expected to enrol its first batch of 100 students in a month. It is located on a 7-acre piece of land adjacent to Molo District Hospital. This brings the total number of KMTC colleges within Nakuru County to two after the Nakuru Town campus.
Kaloki said the institution will help in addressing the shortages of healthcare workers adding that those graduating every year are not enough to bridge the staffing gap especially in rural hospitals and dispensaries.
Molo MP Jacob Macharia said the project will improve the socio-economic status of Molo and that the health care of local residents is set to improve.
“Molo KMTC will help in ensuring quick implementation of the training facility in Nakuru County,” said Macharia.
