Parents in Kisii County have been urged to mould their children at the tender age to shape their behaviour.
Speaking on Thursday at Kiogoro Primary school in an event organised by area Member of the County Assembly (MCA) Mr Samuel Apoko, Kisii Child Care department representative Mrs Christine Nyaboke urged parents to take prime responsibility of taking care of their children when young to avoid future rogue behaviours.
Nyaboke said many parents have abandoned their responsibilities, exposing children to criminal activities in the society.
“As parents, we must mould our children at a tender age. That is prime responsibility of any parent and failure to do that, we will be raising a rogue generation of children. Those who are brought up in a bad way have been caught on the wrong side of the law,” she said.
She further warned parents against neglecting their children, saying action will be taken against them if found guilty.
“Sometimes parents are ignorant and end up neglecting their children. Mentally stable parents should not do that,” she said.
Apoko said his office will invite representatives from the Child Care to discuss on how to reduce increasing incidents of children engaging in criminal activities.
