A religious leader in Kiambu has condemned the mushrooming of night clubs in the area for promoting immorality among the youth in the area over the years.
Speaking at a youth seminar on Thursday at the Power of Faith Church in Kiambu Town, Bishop Peter Gachara urged the youth to avoid frequenting night clubs as they enticed immorality.
He said it did not make sense for youth to pretend to be saved during daytime, and at night visit night spots as this did not please God.
“The youth of today tend to indulge in immoral activities that are strongly condemned in the Bible. If you are a Christian, stick to Christianity and stop playing games with Christianity,” he warned.
Gachara advised the youth to focus on activities that will help them in building their future other than indulging in activities that contaminated them.
He however, reminded them that the owners of those clubs were in business and all they need was money at the end of the day.
“If you think these owners of night clubs will consider your wrong ways, you’re wrong. All they consider is your ID and once you have it, the rest is for you to decide,” he said.
The bishop further urged parents to play a role in preventing their children from visiting night clubs, saying that parents should remain parents even after their children were over 18 as the Bible does not have a limit age of parenting.
Elizabeth Nyambura, a parent who attended the seminar, said night clubs in Kiambu Sub-County have become a menace to their children as many of them end up engaging in immorality.
“As a result of the demand to attend night clubs, the youth have gone to an extent of stealing money from their parents, engaging in robbery at times just to get money to attend night clubs,” said Nyambura.
She added, “We find posters all over town some of which contain obscene images that speak volumes about what kind of activities take place in such places.”
She however, encouraged the youths who have chosen to live right to set an example for others to emulate.
Boniface Njuguna, a youth leader at the church hailed the pastor’s words saying it was for the better of the generations to come.
He added that the youth were easily influenced by others when it comes to such matters and should be cautioned by men of God all over the country.
He said most youth from the church are living transformed lives and urged them not to feel embarrassed of changing their lifestyles as it guaranteed them a bright future.
