Police officers who on patrol in Kithimani are in Machakos on Thursday night arrested 14 people suspected to be engaging in criminal activities in the area.
The incident comes after the police launched a crackdown on suspected criminal gangs in the area with the area Administration Police Commander, Johnston Anguyo, directing all the security personnel to flush out gangs in the area.
Anguyo, while confirming the night incident, has cautioned the residents against consumption of illegal substances and warned of severe punishments in accordance to the law for the pedlars.
“We issue a stern warning to pedlars to change and venture into other businesses failure to which they will be arrested and face the full force of the law. We have started and we will not relent on this war,” he said.
The officers also apprehended a man who was was found in possession of several rolls of bhang.
Mr. Anguyo said the suspect is in police custody in Yatta Police Station to help police with vital information which will lead them in their investigations on the source of the illegal drug.
He urged the members of the public to embrace community policing which will enhance security and also expose the culprits.
