Kiambu Town Member of Parliament Jude Njomo has called on Kiambu residents to embrace the Nyumba Kumi initiative.

The MP said the initiative will go a long way in taming crime and drug abuse among the youth during the holidays.

Speaking at Kanumbi grounds in Kiambu Town on Thursday, Njomo expressed his concerns with increased rate of crime in the area. He said the young generation is being subjected to crime and called on parents to be keen.

The Kiambu legislator said they will launch a crack down on night clubs said to be recruiting minors with the help of Kiambu County police Commandant James Mugera and they will not relent to bring them to book.

“I am working together with Mugera, the Kiambu Police Commandant to help in reducing crime among our children. Owners of night clubs recruiting minors will be arrested an we will ensure they all face justice,” said Njomo.

He asked parents to be on the look out and ensure they keep track of the whereabouts of their sons and daughters to prevent them from indulging in crime.

He urged the residents to embrace the community policing and Nyumba Kumi initiative in a bid to ensuring perpetrators face the of law.

Njomo also asked Kiambu leaders to embrace the initiative and sensitise the residents on the importance of being vigilant especially as they approach the festive season where crime usually doubles.

“Kiambu leaders should join hands in sensitising residents on the importance of Nyumba Kumi and Community Policing to help tame crime in the county,” said Njomo.
