Nyamira County women representative Alice Chae has accused Jerusha Momanyi, a member of the Nyamira Public Service Board of insincerity.

Speaking on Friday during a fundraiser at Manga Girls, Chae accused Momanyi of engaging in active politics despite holding a public office contrary to the Public Service Act and demanded her immediate resignation.

“I don’t want to get much into politics but sometimes I wonder why a public servant engages in active politics. The law is very clear and that is why I need Momanyi to resign unconditionally and face me in the field,” she said.

Chae called on area residents to give incumbents time to deliver and promised to defend and help women from the region to thrive economically using the women representatives kitty passed by Parliament.

“Sometimes it is not necessary to politic every time. As women reps, we have been allocated the kitty and that will make it easy for us to reach and empower our counterparts,” she said.

In a quick rejoinder, Momanyi, defended herself and called on Chae to deliver on her promises rather than putting her under a microscope.

“I think people should mind their businesses. I am not a women rep and the incumbent should not necessarily drag me into the game,” she said.

Jerusha Momanyi contested unsuccessfully in 2013 polls and emerged second to Alice Chae, then a radio presenter with Royal Media’s Egesa FM.
