Kisumu Senator Prof Anyang' Nyong'o will on Monday hold a meeting with college students from the region at the Kisumu Polytechnic.

The meeting which was organised by the Kisumu Senate office and the Kisumu County Students' Union (Kicosu) will be an avenue for students in Kisumu to discuss some of the challenges facing them.

Nyong'o's personal assistant Babu Karan told HiviSasa at the Kisumu Senator's office in Milimani that the senator will meet the students in Kisumu to ensure their plight as students is heard and addressed.

Karan said that Nyong'o intended to engage the students to find a solution to the problem of perennial students' unrest.

Kicosu secretary general, Fred Makajos at the Kisumu Hotel on Sunday, said the meeting has been organised to come up with a better working relationship between learning institutions and students and a collaboration with the county government.

"Students are an important component of growth in our county today and we cannot ignore their relevance. That is why we organised the meeting so that the senator, who is also a university lecturer addresses some of our issues with a view of seeing ways in which the students can be factored into the county leadership," said Makajos.

The senator is also set to give a lecture on devolution, public governance and issues of corruption.
