A Kiambu County administrator has called on government officials to ensure they deliver the best out of their mandate to enhance equality in service delivery.
Ruiru Sub-County Commissioner Mercy Gatobu said corruption has been on the headlines for long, and there is need to shun it and give way for fairness in serving the public.
She noted that the current government has been prioritising on better services to the public, and thus everyone should follow suit to ensure there are less cases of graft.
Speaking in her office on Tuesday, the DCC said that her office will not give room to corrupt officials as she is strict on the quality of services delivered to the public.
She further called on the police and chiefs to be on the front-line and lead by example as they are known for taking bribes, adding that they risk losing their jobs if they get involved in graft.
“Let’s start by fighting graft in our doorsteps. In my area, anyone caught taking bribes knows what happens to them as we have been having regular meetings aimed at sensitising them on the dangers of corruption in the society,” she said.
Gatobu also said that majority of the Ruiru youthful population have no identity cards, and called on the immigration offices in Nairobi to fast track the issuance as most of youth are yet to receive their IDs despite waiting for months.
