A senior ODM official now wants Deputy President William Ruto to decamp Jubilee Alliance and join opposition coalition Cord ahead of the much anticipated 2017 polls.
This comes amid intrigues surrounding the DP’s case at the International Criminal Court with both coalitions trading accusations on who 'fixed' the DP at The Hague based court.
Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria claimed that he and former justice Minister Martha Karua had a hand in 'fixing' the DP at the ICC, claims that Ms Karua has since rubbished.
Speaking on Sunday at an education forum in Nyambaria High School in Nyamira, ODM Secretary General Ababu Namwamba said the revelations by Mr Kuria were enough evidence that current top government officials 'fixed' Mr Ruto in relation to 2007/2008 post election violence.
He urged the DP to ditch Jubilee and join Cord due to ‘insincerity’ in the government and insisted that Mr Kuria records a statement over his remarks.
“As ODM, we are happy with the recent developments. The DP should now see who are a friend and enemy in this world of politics. Mr Kuria has not only confirmed that he and other top government officials fixed him and time has come to join his rightful side. Mr Kuria should in fact record a statement over his utterances,” he said.
He dismissed Jubilee legislators who were pointing fingers of accusations at Coalition for Reforms and Democracy leader Raila Odinga and urged them to go for the real culprits who are behind the DP’s woes.
“We know who Mr Kuria speaks for and his recent admission should be the beginning of clearing Mr Ruto. They (Jubilee) are insincere to him and time has come for him to take an action. In fact, Mr Raila has nothing to do with DP’s troubles at The Hague because he was an integral part of ODM,” he added.
The second term legislator said Mr Ruto’s political fortunes will be boosted if he joins Cord.
“If he supports Jakom (Mr Odinga) in 2017, then I see him performing well in 2022. I don’t believe that Mr Uhuru can support him.
