The alleged leakage of KCSE exams 2015 edition has attracted attention from a number of primary school heads from Gesima zone in Kitutu Masaba constituency.
The school heads led by the zone’s Kenya Primary School Heads Teachers Association (KEPSHA) chair Mr Charles Bosire on Friday held an impromptu meeting to discuss mechanisms to prevent area schools from being involved in cases of exam cheating and malpractices.
Mr Bosire urged area teachers and pupils to report unscrupulous business people who might be tempted to sell any material that relates to KCPE exams that are due in two weeks time.
“We don’t condone exam cheating because we believe in our abilities. As school heads association, we have agreed to warn our teachers against being involved in such primitive exercise and also to encourage pupils to report any cases that may emerge as we approach the exams,” Mr Bosire said on phone.
He also urged police officers from Keroka to conduct a thorough search in area bookshops and other text book centres to ensure the businessmen are completely locked out of the region.
“We also urge the police to carry out a random search in the bookshops to ensure such people are arrested. We have prepared enough and our candidates are ready to face the exams,” he added.
His Nyakongo Primary counterpart Mr Charles Getuno said the zone was aiming to top Masaba region after losing narrowly to Rigoma zome in 2014 edition.
“Rigoma beat us by only five points. We can be able to improve from the current average of 245 to at least 260. Our candidates strayed in school despite the teachers strike in September,” he said.
This comes amid claims that KCSE exams were leaking massively to the schools, despite KNEC putting enough mechanisms to curb exam malpractices.
