Nyamira County senator Mong’are Okong’o has called on the county government to purchase more drugs for its hospitals.

He asked the county government to make the process quick citing a high risk of contracting malaria during this season of heavy rains and a cold.

Speaking when he visited Manga District Hospital and Mochenwa Hospital in Kitutu Masaba constituency on Thursday where he donated medicine worth Sh1.4 million, Senator Okong’o said the county needs to have enough medicine so that patients do not suffer.

“Manga sub-county hospital is in good condition and the health workers are doing good work but they still lack a few facilities. They do not have enough anti-malaria medicine and this is the cold and rainy season,” he noted.

“Most of the patients I found there are told to go and buy the medicine from other places. I want to call on the county government to act quickly on this matter,” he said.

The senator gave Manga Hospital medicine worth Sh1 million while Mochenwa Hospital received medicine worth Sh400,000 that included antibiotics, anti-bacteria and syringes.
