Two men from Kiandutu were on Wednesday arraigned at the Thika law courts charged with defiling two minors in separate incidents.
The first suspect, James Mbugua was charged with defiling a six-year-old girl. The second suspect, Gabriel Njuru was charged with defiling a 12-year-old boy.
According to the charge sheet, Mbugua allegedly committed the offence on August 23 at Kiang'ombe area near Kiandutu.
He is also faced with an alternative charge of indecent act with a minor.
On the other hand, Njuru allegedly defiled a 12-year-old boy in Kiandutu on August 26 after luring him with a mandazi.
Attempts by the two suspects to be released on bail were opposed by the prosecution.
"The two are close neighbours to the victims and their release is likely to interfere with the prosecution witnesses," said the prosecutor.
Thika Resident Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo directed that the two suspects be detained for two weeks for the prosecution to file a sworn affidavit on why the two should not be released on bail.
Mbugua's case will be mentioned on September 12 and heard September 27 while Njuru's will be mentioned on September 15 and heard on September 30.
