Chiefs and their assistants in Tala have been asked to make sure that the region is safe and the residents witness their presence in their areas of jurisdiction.

Tala Deputy County Commissioner Jeremiah Tumo said this during a meeting held over the weekend in an attempt to improve on the accountability and responsibility in the work of the administrators.

Speaking during the conference which was held at Tala Community Hall on Saturday afternoon the officer said that some of the residents had earlier raised the complains that some of the chiefs were colluding with criminals who ambush them on the roads and even break into their houses at night

He said that if there was such a character in the midst of them he should be eliminated and prosecuted for tarnishing the name of the national government administration officers.

He also claimed that some of chiefs were helping brewers supply their illegal merchandise to the public saying they are motivated by the bribes they receive from them warning that any officer caught would be sacked and prosecuted.

“We have to show responsibility towards the people we serve, these people are the same people who rate our work. For those officers who are colluding with criminals and brewers, you risk going to jail because you are tarnishing our name and condoning crime,” he said.
