More than 100 youth and women groups from Thika Constituency on Wednesday received between Sh50,000 and Sh100,000 from Uwezo Fund at the Thika Sub-County stadium.

A total of Sh7 million was disbursed to the groups which satisfied the requirements set by the board with the funds being disbursed by area MP Alice Ng’ang’a.

Speaking to the beneficiaries, Ng’ang’a urged the groups to use the money wisely to ensure they benefit further after they are done repaying the interest-free loans.

"This money if used wisely should not bring disunity in families but rather cohesion and a boost to life,” said the MP.

She added that said she was disappointed by the few youth groups that had applied for the funds and asked more young people to get ready for the next phase.

“It seems young men have not fully benefited from the fund, but I urge them to take steps by forming groups and applying for the amount yet to be disbursed,” Ng’ang’a said.
