Three people were on Thursday arraigned before a Kisumu law court to answer charges of causing disturbance in a manner likely to cause breach of peace.

Maurice Ngolo, Beatrice Achieng' and Peterson Kanini are alleged to have caused disturbance at Kibuye market in Kisumu on September 1.

The first and second respondents pleaded innocent to the charges while Peterson Kanini failed to take a plea saying that he was not ready to proceed with the case.

According to the prosecution, the three, who are fish traders at Kibuye Market, had a disagreement over the price of fish supplied.

The court heard that Kanini had been sent to get the fish for the two, but when he came and told them that the price had been hiked they disagreed and an argument ensued.

The argument is said to have been so fierce in such that businesses around the market came to a standstill.

Chief magistrate Esther Maina ordered that they return in court on Monday when the third accused will be ready to take a plea since the case was consolidated.
